We are getting some #trans folks writing who are terribly concerned to find the 'safest' #EU country. Everywhere in western #europe is safer than the #USA by a significant margin.
You are better selecting a destination in Europe based on other factors than just some "safety" ranking.
You are going to have to live your life once you're out. Don't pass up the great job offer from Germany because a website says Portugal is 1 point higher on a ranking.

like me for example I want to move to Germany because my boyfriend is there. I'd rather live in a country with someone I know and that I know is safe

@snow Yes, that's a perfectly reasonable reason to prefer Germany. A job offer, speaking German, having job skill that gets you a visa, or just having always wanted to live there, groovy.
we're just getting emails from folks who check out scary stories about right wing movements in EU and are convinced I have a guy marching around throwing stiff arm salutes outside my door.

one thing to keep in mind, though, are the prospects for each country. For example, it's unfortunately very likely that France, while pretty safe at the moment, might become less so in the near future because of how crappy elections have been evolving lately and the very possibility of seeing a president from the extreme right… Wouldn't want to be jumping from the frying pan into the fire…

My friend has a duel citizenship with Germany. She and her wife are going to be moving there but they still feel like it isn't safe for other reasons. They feel like this global push to facism will eventually permeate there.
