Now blocking anyone who spams HOA nonsense in my mentions.

And if the block is evaded, their server gets defederated.

I won’t even announce defederation. I’ll just do it.

@johnefrancis Yep, they love to show up and make their presence known. It’s becoming spammy.

@johnefrancis Bold question! It could have meant "Helplessness Over Acronyms", and then you would have been blocked!

@evan are they from your own HOA? I have not experienced the HOA's stalking the replies.

I don’t know how they find me, but usually they come to hijack a popular post to spread HOA nonsense. It usually goes like this:

  • “The Fediverse doesn’t need to grow and should remain small”
  • “TikTokers don’t belong on the Fediverse and aren’t a cultural fit”
  • “This software should be defederated, and everyone who talks about it in a positive manner should be blocked”

Quite often you get lots of vitriol with people saying, “You don’t care about <insert issue> if you don’t do what I say.”

I’ve now come to the conclusion that anyone sending HOA messages in a repetitive manner is not seeking dialogue but is simply using my posts to hijack them for their own HOA silliness.

@Chris Trottier I made a decision to defederate some of the worst HOA clusters a year or so ago and never regretted it.
