The question isn't just if Le Pen manages to gain a mandate to power.
But it is how one should govern a country, where 1/3 vote for racists and fascists.
And this question equally applies to Germany, Netherlands, US...

People become racists and fascists because the media is always giving them a platform, legitimizing their ideas for decades. Because those who vote feel (with or without reason) unseen and unheard by a president who is such a dumb muppet that he worked super hard to raise the far right so that he could be seen as a savior against them. Except he's now incredibly unpopular and the far right is becoming the better alternative.

the fundamental question is when the big political parties and media outlets will stop hyping the fascist talking points.

when Merz started as CDU boss he promised to cut Afd votes in half. What he managed was to have them doubled instead.
At some point the CDU will realize that reiterating the fascist agenda will not give them fascists votes, but make their voters vote for the fascists instead. They might be power hungry assholes, but they're not stupid.
