Whence comes this idea that the Fediverse has "failed to catch on"? We have over ten fricking million users. That's like the population of London.

@Alisdair Calder McGregor Thing is, we're here doing our own thing. Plenty of us will carry on doing that, and it can't really be killed. Anyone with enough tech knowledge can spin up their own instance in half an hour and jump in.

So here we are, I guess.

It fails to catch on for a certain group. If you look at where they are coming from they, I would say, see that they will lose any influence that they previously enjoyed. Their only recourse is to undermine what they perceive as a threat to their ethereal influence.
