I sprayed myself with every single perfume tester at a central Manchester department store when I was 15. I then took the bus home. A man in the row behind me had an asthma attack and the driver called an ambulance. I have never worn perfume since.

might explain why I struggle a little breathing wise when people use deodorant and perfume. I've got asthma.

there is an old mall here which has housed the Hudson's Bay Company for several decades, which has a ground floor walk-through area that goes to the street on the next block. that was where they put the perfume counter. until about ten years ago, when they finally changhed it, i'd hold my breath walking through there.

Department stores where they set up people at the exit/ entrance with testers.

Used to have to walk through one to get from the carpark to the main shopping centre. Would nearly run past them holding my breath. A big cloud of perfume. Else the next half a hour would be wheezing and medication.

They stopped doing it a decade ago and I now can skirt around the perfume area and out, most of the time with out wheezing. I hate that place so much I have never purchased anything from them.
