I've started looking for a job again. Not too strenuously, just seeing what's out there for a C++ and Fortran programmer with an engineering/physics emphasis who wants/needs something at least close to full remote.

Probably not a lot!

@Ghost of Hope I immediately thought of the Square Kilometre Array folk - maybe worth punting a CV at various international big science collaborations? (Nothing immediately obvious at skao.int/en/opportunities/care… and I don't know how flexible they are with remote work. Friend works for them as a project manager and seems to do almost everything remotely.)

good luck. I keep wondering if it's worth looking for something else, but the whole hybrid/remote thing looks like being a bit of a block

I'll have to check what our policy on remote is these days, but I'm working for a med-tech startup that's looking for one more senior-principal C++ engineer, if that sounds at all interesting.

I checked in, and UK would be too hard for us to manage. Best of luck finding good gigs though!
