Just had a purge of most of the Lib Dem groups I was still a member of. I don’t find I have the stomach for the moral cowardice and rank hypocrisy any more.
In particular, the party is unwilling to do anything about its growing transphobia problem because it would be financially inconvenient for them, so they rely on cherry picked interpretations of a contentious and unsettled part of UK equalities law to give them plausible deniability.
The reality is that the people in a position to do something about the anti trans genocidal maniacs amongst their ranks are never going to suffer any personal issues from tolerating them, and lack the will and the moral courage to do what needs to be done.
It’s easier not to.
This is not unique to them. The far right is on the rise across the western democracies because weak and hypocritical cowards have decided that it’s too hard to do anything about it, and the less they do, the more they get entrenched and the harder it gets.
And, of course, those making the high level decisions to look the other way are pretty much never the ones in the firing line themselves.
I don’t pretend I have the power to stop this. I spent a long time trying in my own little corner of the world and got nowhere.
But I don’t have to watch them tell themselves comforting stories about why doing nothing is the only course of action they could have taken, because it makes me want to heave.
So I won’t.

But then it isn’t aimed at you, is it?
