British Medical Association calls anti-trans Cass Review “unsubstantiated”. bma.org.uk/bma-media-centre/bm…

This is major: the BMA is the major union for doctors in the UK and not a niche group, most doctors are members.

@Lazarou “We are following the Cass report” (a statement straight out of ‘Politics for Dummies’) is rapidly turning into a millstone. Expect either “I’ve been misquoted”/“that’s not what I meant” or “that’s not what I said”. And, when that fails, “we were gravely misled” and “lessons will be learned”.

@christineburns @Lazarou @cstross a sudden thought which i'm sure is just me being overcynical.

Doctors to Streeting: "Give us more money or we’ll blow Cass wide open.”

Course it might have been:

Streeting (looking for cover) to Doctors: “Blow Cass wide open and I'll give you more money.”

(I'm not really being serious.)

@StrangeNoises @christineburns @Lazarou The rampant transphobia in British politics today is an ideological Rorschach test for any government. It's esseitnally a canary in the coal mine for far right radicalization, because transphobia was a core Nazi policy back in 1933: that Streeting has even a millisecond's hesitation over trans rights is a very bad indicator …

@christineburns @Lazarou I am expecting the Sir Humphrey move shortly. The one where you decide there are "questions to be answered" (but never specify which questions) and refer it to a public enquiry so that people throw pies at each other whilst you look on from afar without getting messy.
