I'm Sarah. I'm a Brit who fled to Portugal on account of Brexit, increasing intolerance and the British weather. I like climbing (although I can't do much any more for health reasons) and sailing. This is a Friendica account. Friendica is kinda like Facebook as Mastodon is kinda like Twitter, except they can talk to each other.

Death Valley has a golf course. This is the most American thing ever.

@Cassandra I think when @jugglerchris was over there once he took a photo of someone painting their lawn green.

@ajlanes @Cassandra That was in Tucson, and was a patch of grass outside a McDonalds IIRC. Presumably much cheaper than the water would have been.

@ajlanes @Cassandra There are a load of golf courses in Tucson too - though I believe they're required to water them with some variety of waste water at least.

@Chris Emerson @Alexandra Lanes @Cassandra I once changed planes at phoenix.

The view of the suburbs coming in to land made me despair of there being any future for humanity.

@jugglerchris @Cassandra US suburbia is mad. It’s practically designed to make people live so far from each other and anything else that they can only be dependent on cars.

@Alexandra Lanes @Cassandra @Chris Emerson The suburbia around Phoenix is covered, and I mean covered, in golf courses.

How long has it been since the Colorado reached the sea?
