Anyone near Cambridge UK wanting old, possibly non working, 80s computer shit and able to collect in the next week?

I think I have a C64, Amiga 1200, maybe a ZX81

in reply to Sarah Brown

I had a C64 - amazing bit of kit. I'm too far away but good luck to the happy new owner πŸ˜€
in reply to Sarah Brown

Ooh, possibly! (although I'd definitely check the CfCH have no need for them first)
in reply to Sarah Brown

loving the ”80s computer shit”, hoping there’ll be someone to collect. πŸ”₯
in reply to Sarah Brown

Hiya, if the Amiga 1200 is still available I'd be interested?
in reply to Sasha

@Sasha It is. Can we meet up sometime in the next week?

It hasn’t been powered up in decades. I don’t know what state it’s in.

in reply to Sarah Brown

yes absolutely. I'm north London based but can drive up either Tuesday morning, Thursday morning or Friday. Perfectly happy with it not working as I like trying to fix things πŸ˜€
in reply to Sasha

@Sasha If you’re driving, would you rather collected it from Bishops Stortford?
in reply to Sasha

@Sasha Tuesday morning, then? I'm right by Bishops Stortford rail station
in reply to Sasha

@Sasha wanna DM me on Monday evening and we’ll arrange something?
in reply to Sarah Brown

in reply to Sarah Brown

@@pndc Kind of need rid of them quickly, and with the minimum of hassle.

I know too well about C64 power supplies. Went through several of them as a child in the 80s.

You're right that Amiga power supplies are generally bulletproof even 30+ years on. A1200s (and 600s & 4000s) often suffer from leaky surface mount electrolytic caps though which left untreated can cause damage to the motherboard, unfortunately. At least you don't have to worry about a leaky varta battery though, most RTC options for the 1200 used a coin cell.

Stick them on ebay. I got Β£150 for a broken A1200 four years ago, they are probably worth more now.

my English geography is appalling so I’ve no idea if he’s vaguely close but ping @leeg
in reply to Alan Francis

@acf close enough, but no thank you, I already have one of each πŸ˜€. Everyone's already recommended the museum so on the (likely) chance that they don't take them either, try your local community marketplace or freecycle.
