Today I narrowly avoided the embarrassment of going to fetch my Click and Collect order a day early. I only avoided the faux-pas because I went to investigate why I hadn’t been charged yet for the picked order. However, it also means I’ll have to pop to the Tesco Express now for essentials to get through this extra day!

@alexadeswift Most shops have opened on Sundays since the laws on Sunday trading were changed over 30 years ago. The superstore operates limited hours (not opening till 11am) but smaller food shops have always opened even when they couldn’t sell some of the things on display prior to the change in the law.

@alexadeswift @goatsarah It’s weird that a 7/11 that’s as big as a 1960s supermarket gets to stay open much later. Fortunately these days I can get almost everything I want from the latter kind of convenience store so I’m reducing the occasions I do a β€˜big shop’ to once or twice a month. Pre the 1994 Sunday Trading Act the things you weren’t allowed to buy in an open shop was just plain bizarre.
