A few years ago, Cambridge City Council became the first of many local authorities in the UK to start dismantling its trans equality policy. Here, today, they are flying the progress pride flag from their offices.

Hypocritical bullshitters. We see you.

This is basically ground zero for the assault on trans people’s equality, fronted by then councillor Ann Sinnott of Cambridge Labour, founder of the transphobic hate group, “LGB Alliance”

@Alisdair Calder McGregor Totally normal Adult Human Female with normal attitudes towards adolescents getting bitty.

You’ll know her if you meet her; she has the permanent air of “just sucked a lemon coated in bitrex” about her.

i’m of the opinion you’re allowed to take down undeserved pride flags and decorations but I totally get you’re probably not interested in the local media storm a former councilor doing something like that would cause. But maybe someone else reading this could.

@Paul100 Well, we like living our lives and minding our own business, but quite a lot of people have a problem with that.

In this case, they amended their equalities policy to allow them to discriminate against us in service provision (housing, employment, etc)

@Paul100 If your job is to provide a service to the public, then you don’t get to decide some people don’t get to receive it, ESPECIALLY when you’re funded by their taxes.

@Paul100 Thing is, discriminating against someone based on who they are: not acceptable.

Discriminating against someone for behaving like an arsehole: completely acceptable.

I am a business owner as it happens, and if someone is transphobic to me, they will be told to take their custom elsewhere.

@Paul100 One is based on identity, one is based on behaviour.

They are not the same.
