Once upon a time the Internet would tell you what to press to make your dishwasher drain.

Now it wants to show you a video, about replacing your drain hose, by visiting their affiliate link, to remove the blockage.

It’s not blocked. I just want to know how to make it drain.

I gave up and just ran it on the shortest cycle on the basis that it will drain at the end.

It pisses me off that domestic appliances with good user interfaces are simply not available. At any cost. You cannot buy good ones. They are not made. At all.

It’s a race to the bottom. Nobody fills the “I want to pay more for a quality product” niche.

And you can no-longer work around it by looking stuff up on the internet, because nobody makes a working search engine anymore.

random plug for Kagi which has somewhat restored my belief in search engines

Because everything is built down to a cost rather than up to a quality.

This!

Every appliance in the house beeps. Some loud, some soft, but it's always just "beep" instead of a synthesized voice saying "The refrigerator door has been standing open for five minutes!" which is what I need to know.

BuT tOuCh SeNsItIvE BuTtOnS aRe So FuTuRiStIc! Don't you want your appliances to look cool above all else? That's what's worth paying extra for! 🙃

I want dials levers and switches that go thunk, with raised or deeply etched legends that aren't just screen printed, and more metal everywhere.

I don't need 5 different very slightly different dishwasher settings, we all know I'm just gonna hit the "regular" one every time any

@mkj nope, same bad UIs everywhere, Miele, AEG, Siemens, Bosch. They all suck in that regard.

personally I feel like I've been getting better results by using a SearXNG instance and just changing the meta search settings to only use engines I've never heard of.
