Don’t quite know what to make of this. Either it’s Cass trying to gaslight us, or maybe she’s realised that beyond the shores of Normal Island and the US, having her name on this bag of crap basically destroys her career? thekitetrust.org.uk/wp-content…

Transphobia on Normal Island: so extreme that what you think is a centrist position on it risks turning you into an international pariah.

i am trying to cross reference these answer with the actual cass review. The cass review *does* talk about a follow through program. I cannot find anything about stopping treatment for 25 and under.

as for puberty blockers, the cass review urges “extreme caution” for puberty blockers for under 16, and wants to force everyone getting prescribed puberty blockers to participate in a research study.

which is bad

and the faq you linked is very carefully worded to not contradict any of this. it technically says all that.

If this is really a reflection of the views she holds, the report could have benefited from including such points in its summary! Having skip-read the summary, I’m left with the impression that her position is ‘nobody knows’ so more research is needed (which is a very valid point), but what she fails to adequately address is what strategy should be adopted in the mean time, which is surely the most urgent and vital question. I’m not sure this interview throws much more light on that.

@Kim Spence-Jones 🇬🇧😷 I suspect she’s having some sort of moment of clarity about what she’s done to her international reputation in countries that aren’t infested with brain worms.

@KimSJ I’ve been saying since the report came out that having a report or enquiry named after you (eg the CASS report) must be a big ego thing at first but the shine can come off really quickly. The report’s enduring reputation is YOUR reputation. The smarter thing would be to title the publication after the subject matter and ensure your name is in very small type — but that would probably only appeal to normal-size egos.

@christineburns I suspect she’s just so lacking in empathy that she thought she was doing a good job. Her main focus seems to have been on NHS admin, completely failing to appreciate what it must be like for folk trapped in a hostile system with a clock ticking.

@Kim Spence-Jones 🇬🇧😷 @Christine Burns MBE 🏳️‍⚧️📚⧖ none of these people even consider us human, if they consider us at all. To them, we are a failed outcome, to be avoided at all costs. It doesn’t even occur to them that we lead rich, fulfilling lives.
in reply to Sarah Brown

I honestly cannot understand such views. These people must live such colourless lives.
in reply to Sarah Brown

regardless, not buying the tiny amount of backpedalling going on here.

Whoa.

"The word ‘transition’ was used in the report to mean a transition between NHS services and not in reference to gender transition"

THAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN IMPORTANT TO CLARIFY. Who proofread the thing??

So first they feed the transphobes a bunch of crap they'll be running wild with for YEARS, then they're trying to feed everybody else the idea that they didn't mean it that way-- as if that's going to help. What a steaming pile of twisted crap.

so, she’s a stooge? Not sure why I’d improve my opinion of her. Stonewall reports appointments being cancelled.
