I read the original 1958 novella when I was still a child. There is a 1968 film, called Charly. Cliff Robertson (Charlie Gordon) won an Oscar for that. The novel was published in 1966.

YouTube has a copy of a 1961 TV adaptation of the novella, "The Two Worlds of Charlie Gordon", in which Cliff Robertson plays the same role.

I think ADHD might explain a lot of my (perceived) weirdness, and a lot of other stuff about my immediate family. I'm late in coming to this but I think I should begin to discuss it with my GP and my now-adult kids. Reading your account of your experiences here has been helpful. Thank you.
