Just got a fundraising email from the Green Party (England and Wales) "starring" a certain Rupert Read, who I thought had disappeared back into the woodwork but apparently is one of their parliamentary candidates still.

I remember him for one thing, and one thing only. The row he kicked off by doing several transphobias, a decade or so ago.

I believe some of my friends on here were involved in slapping him down at the time. I've been reading up to see if he's changed his views, and he allegedly says he has but I also read a non-apology in which he said that he'd raised the transphobias in order to argue against them, or something. Sounds fishy to me.

@goatsarah and others, do you know if he's reliable these days or did GPEW just drop a transphobe into my inbox?
