Watching The Spanish Princess on HBO Max.

Dunno how accurate their portrayal of Margaret Beaufort is, but they’re portraying her as exactly the sort of woman who would wield power in the court of a Tudor monarch and yet still die of old age.

And if she was anything like that, then she’d have been beyond terrifying IRL, and an utter inspiration.

It’s my former political party, the UK Liberal Democrats, conference starting in Bournemouth today.

This likely means the usual TERF suspects are planning to engage in stupid bullshit. Usually this takes the form of trying to submit wrecking amendments to any motion aimed at improving women’s position in society.

For some reason, the uk media insists on referring to these people as “feminists”.

I kinda feel like the whole “middle aged women having a sense of humour based massively around filthy innuendo and scatology” is a thing. Am I wrong?

Like, I’m driving yesterday and there’s a bag of liquorice chews in my lap, and I offered one to @Zoe O'Connell and I’m like, “don’t worry, there’s no hole in the bottom”.

Peak fucking hilarity right there.

When I left Portugal for the summer I dared to hope I had eradicated my mealybug infestation on the balcony.

But I returned last week to find they had survived in the soil of my Lantana and had already started to spread to the neighbouring lime tree.

Not having it. If left unchecked, they will destroy EVERYTHING.

I sprayed them with a shedload of isopropyl alcohol, followed by double concentration deltamethrin, and then today, some systemic neonicotinoid spray (it’s ok, they aren’t flowering, it won’t hurt bees).

I aso removed ALL foliage from the Lantana, and threw it in the bin.

I am daring to hope t hat will be it, but I’m going to be utterly paranoid over the next 6 months, and at the first sign of ANYTHING, out comes the nuclear pesticide regime again.

They started this. I’m finishing it. At least they can’t fly, so once they’re gone, they’re gone.

Wow! Natalie the Bird is on r/compoface for being cancelled by TEH TRANZ in the Daily Mail.

According to a barely legible black smudge, she was a “would be MP” but the transes cancelled her. Shocking!

Except, and this is slightly inconvenient for her, I have some considerable familiarity with ol’ ms Bird here and the real reason she can’t be an MP is that she is the platonic reference Dunning Kruger effect. This is someone would would fail, by a long way, to meet the abysmally low bar set by Liz Truss and that Tory bloke who thinks women’s blood doesn’t clot when there’s a full moon.

r/compoface is the wrong community for her. R/StoriesAboutKevin, on the other hand, would be perfect.

Apologies for the unorthodox communication style, but I’m trying to reach out to the TERFs in whose heads I live rent-free.

Anyway, this is a tenant query: I want to put up a big poster of Marsha Johnson throwing a brick. Am I allowed to use bluetac, or similar, on the inner surface of the bone?

Please indicate “yes” by liking this post.

Hugs and kisses, etc

Bit of a long shot. Any post op trans women reading this had a dental implant with bone regeneration and able to share their experiences? I had one placed yesterday and am vaguely worried that I won’t get the needed bone growth (18 years HRT, 17 years postop)

Apropos of the scary shit that’s going on for trans people around the world right now, the concept of “birth certificate laundering” seems to be becoming a thing.

It goes like this: you transition and go through gender recognition somewhere hostile, like the UK. You get a new birth certificate (for now?) but you are still “on the list”, and they know if they look hard enough; the original record is still there.

But then you naturalise or register as a citizen of another country (Ireland, for those able to via the grandparent route, for example, naturalisation through residence and assimilation in my case), and when you naturalise you give them the post gender recognition birth certificate.

That breaks the link. Your country of new citizenship registers your birth and, at as far as they are concerned, you are “legally cis”.

And if they start hunting us via gender recognition records, we can hopefully hide.

So had a dental implant abutment placed today, with bone regeneration. Going to take a few months before there’s likely enough bone to attach the crown, and I suspect being a trans woman will likely affect the rate of bone growth, but we shall see.

Anyway, the procedure itself was painless. Just lots of shoving and scary noises for an hour or so. Then he sewed my gum shut over the abutment (which he placed with something akin to a ratchet screwdriver!), and sent me on my way with nuclear doses of paracetamol, ibuprofen, and an 8 day course of antibiotics.

Going back in a week to have the stitches out. Will have to get used to not smelling of anything in the meantime. Will probably get thrush, because I usually do on antibiotics, but will cross that bridge if I come to it.

I understand there are those of the opinion that trans people “don’t help ourselves” with public displays of anger about the way we are treated.

So I have a question to those who believe this. If we go and sit quietly and stop making a fuss, what exactly are you going to do differently as a result? What is it you’re going to do to make this worth our while, that will improve our lot? Something concrete?

Yeah. Thought so.

I don't condone violence to any degree, but when someone tried bullying me at school and I decked them, it soon stopped. The kids that meekly took it got it until the day they left. The reason I got into the decking situation was because I said to a bullied kid I was going to do something about it, and he went running off to the bully and grassed on me! (I'm sure we know of trans people who do similar in the hope of appeasing their bullies).

ARGH! ARGH! ARGH! Thought I’d seen the last of these bastard things (Australian mealybug).

But it appears some survived my total war back in June, presumably by hiding through the summer in the soil.

As a holding pattern, they’ve got a heavy dose of Chateau Isopropyl 2023 while I go and procure more pesticide.

I swear, they’re harder to get rid of than a fucking TERF infestation.

And if not dealt with, they will cause total ecosystem collapse amongst my plants. They kill everything.

I hate them so much.

My battery performance is “significantly degraded” apparently 😀 In all seriousness though. 5 years of 24/7 on and lots of use is pretty impressive.

I haven’t made the leap to electric, bet it’s a whole new world to discover and stats and ways of doing things:)

(The reason is that I drive my car maybe 10 times a year, so, yeah. Not much use.)

Every time I come back to Vancouver it’s like going back to the past. I have a gas stove here, my parents are already using induction. Things take sooooo long to heat up with gas. When I get there, during the first days I keep boiling things over, lol. And realizing how easy it is to clean afterward. And of course, CO2, toxic fumes, explosions, etc.

I have often seen the question asked, “why are so many trans women so aggressive/combative”.

And the answer is that we don’t start out being, but we quickly learn that expecting people to be decent human beings towards us because it’s the right thing to do doesn’t work.

It only works if we make it harder to not treat us like human beings than vice versa.

I don’t feel like that’s on us to fix.

Alternative hypothesis:

"Why are all these people who are hurting and sore from the wounds their life has given them so sensitive and quick to bark out in pain when poked in old wounds...?"

Because I see a lot of the same "aggression" from chronic pain people and minority groups and I think it comes from ....

Oh gods I'm just restating what you said. Sorry.

All those county and western songs where the cheating bloke gets murdered? I like to think that, in each case, his last words were, “calm down, dear”.

Rando: "Trans women are basically the same as men"

Trans women: "The fuck? That's incredibly transmisogynist!"

Others: "Shush dears, don't worry your little brains. You just didn't understand what he meant."

Like, can you actually believe this shit?

Appreciate I’m posting a lot about the latest drama, and the unexamined transmisogyny at the root of it, but I think we are at a bit of an inflection point now.

It appears that a lot of this singling out of trans women heavy instances has come from a few small servers that were heavily involved in the block list project, and mastodon.art, a large server that were it smaller, I suspect would be widely defederated.

As far as I can tell, most of the smaller servers are offline at this point, including Frontman-Mc-TechbRo’s own single user server.

No idea if this is temporary, or whether the tide has turned and enough people are now providing pushback to the “trans women are basically inclined towards naziism and that’s just how it is” bullshit they were spreading a few days ago.

I am hoping that we have turned a corner. Let’s see.
